The Shaker Lane Scholastic Book Fair Family Night is this Thursday, October 1, 2019.  It begins at 4:30, and there will be pizza available for sale for a quick family dinner.

Staff members will also be reading in the library for story time, and this is a great way to support your school!

Good morning!

We had a wonderful first few days of school.  It has been a pleasure meeting all of your children, and I am excited to be working with all of them this school year.

We have our parents' information night this Wednesday, September 11 at 6 p.m.  I will be giving out lots of information for this school year, and there will be an extended opportunity to have your questions answered.  In order to facilitate this, this is an adults-only meeting.

I look forward to seeing you all Wednesday.  Have a great week!

Open House August 29

Hi all,

I made a mistake on my last blog post (must be sunscreen in my eyes), and our open house is going to be on Thursday, August 29 from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. (not August 22).   Bus orientation is at 10:00 a.m. if your child rides the bus.  I look forward to seeing you all!

Enjoying Summer

I am about to turn the calendar page to August, and as a wave goodbye to July, I am looking forward to a new school year.  Letters to my new students will be going in the mail in a week or two.  Inside you will find a lot of useful information regarding schedules, supplies, and what to expect when we start school in September.

I will have an open house on Thursday, August 22 from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. with bus orientation being at 10:00.  Please feel free to come to the classroom at 9:30, drop off any supplies, and have a quick tour of our classroom.

I look forward to meeting everyone!

This Week

This week, on Thursday, we will have Outdoor Classroom Day (weather permitting).  Assuming it will be a good weather day, we will have lessons outdoors on Thursday.  If your child will need sunscreen/bug spray, please apply it before they come to school.  Please make sure that your child has sneakers for Thursday, as we will be very active!

Also, Friday is an early release day with dismissal at 12:15.  It's a good chance for you to start your Memorial Day Weekend a little early while I participate in professional development activities.  Fingers crossed for good weather!

100th Day and Valentine's Day

This is a big week!  On Tuesday we will celebrate the 100th day of school.  Children are invited (but not required) to bring in a small collection of 100 items.  For example, they may want to bring in 100 pennies, 100 paperclips, or 100 marbles.  This is a choice!  We are going to be making something with 100 items that I will provide, so every child will go home with something special.

On Thursday we are celebrating Valentine's Day.  We will exchange cards in the morning and have a special snack that is provided.  Please remember that Valentines should not contain any candy.  A class list went home last week.  Please let me know if your child won't be here Thursday, or if you have any questions.
